YOUNG ARTISTS

Exceptionally talented youth from the Fraser Valley will perform in a “Young Artists Concert” at Matsqui Centennial Auditorium (City Hall Abbotsford) accompanied by the Abbotsford Youth Orchestra and professional musicians from Vancouver. Director Calvin Dyck has a vision to inspire young musicians by giving them the unique opportunity to perform solo works with an orchestra, a rare opportunity usually only afforded to students at a university level or in the professional ranks.

Highlights of the concert include the passionate “Bruch Violin Concerto” performed by award winning violinist Alina Nicolenco. The talented pianist and composer Rafael Comeau from Mission will perform a movement from Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 23, and the orchestra will perform a world premiere of Rafael’s new work called “Fantasia”.
