Event Details

This month is Sikh Heritage Month. It’s a celebration of the contributions and aspirations of all Sikh-Canadians and helps to develop a greater understanding and appreciation of a rich, unique and diverse heritage.
The Gur Sikh Temple Sikh Heritage Museum’s latest exhibition “Komagata Maru: Challenging Injustice” is available for viewing both inside the museum as well as an exterior version on display outside the building. This exhibit “offers a vibrant and visual exploration into historic events of 1914 but also how the conversations about racism needs to continue.” – South Asian Studies Institute.
The Reach Gallery Museum Abbotsford also has a current exhibition titled “ਸ਼ੀਸ਼ੇ ‘ਚ ਤਰੇੜ / A Crack In the Mirror” which is on display till May 5th, 2022. “sheeshe ‘ch thareṛ”: is a survey of recent works by artist Simranpreet Anand, including collaborative pieces with artist and scholar Conner Singh VanderBeek. Anand’s practice, indebted to familial and cultural community, engages materials and concepts drawn from the histories of Punjab and its diasporas.” – The Reach Gallery Museum Abbotsford.
Be sure to make plans to check out both these exhibitions on your next visit to Abbotsford!
