Living Food-stainably: A Fraser Valley Eco-Fair

The non-profit organization called the Fraser Basin Council runs a program called Co-Creating a Sustainable BC that gets youth (aged 16-30) involved in climate action and sustainability, and to collaborate on projects that make a difference in the community.

A group of youth volunteers this year are hosting a free fair that aims to inspire children and families of the Fraser Valley to reconnect with the local food system. The event is called “Living Foodstainably: A Fraser Valley Eco-Fair” and will be held Sunday, March 5th at the Matsqui Recreation Centre in Abbotsford, from 10 am to 1:30 pm. Each youth will be leading a different hands-on workshop on topics such as growing microgreens and garden vegetables, canning & pickling, food storage, and worm composting. Community organizations and partners will also be there to share their knowledge! Door prizes, refreshments, and colouring pages will be available.
