September 19, 2024

Do you get a thrill from all things spooky? Do you want to explore the wondrous experiences that the season brings and feel like you’ve been whisked away to somewhere magical and just a little bit out of the ordinary. Regardless of whether you’re looking for frights, seasonal delights, or that pumpkin that will sit just right, our guide for a Spooky Szn Connoisseur is sure to provide inspiration for your October adventures this year! Read on and see what Abbotsford has in store for those who love a good spooky season!

DAY ONE

There’s no better way to start your day than with a hot coffee from Goodkid Coffee (and even a toasted, homemade bagel if you’re feeling a bit peckish) and get ready for a day of exploring Abbotsford during a fun, fall day!

Willow View Farms is your first stop and one of the city’s most beloved pumpkin patches and apple orchards. Make sure to grab a wagon as soon as you arrive because you’ll need it for your pumpkin haul. In addition to having their pumpkin patch, they also offer incredibly beautiful pink and green pumpkins and decorative gourds for all your home decor needs. Don’t forget to get yourself a delicious apple cider slushie before you leave!

It’s lunch time and you’re in the mood for a cozy place to warm up and eat; Trading Post Brewing & Eatery is just the place! Their menu changes with the seasons, and highlights ingredients from farms all over the Fraser Valley. Enjoy your meal with one of their 14 beers always on tap (or get a tasting flight to try more!).

Now that you’ve had a fabulous lunch, head over to Windberry Farms! In addition to their adorable Butterbox Self-Serve Farm Store filled with organic chicken, rainbow eggs, honey and fresh sourdough; you’ll find a u-pick pumpkin and squash patch. This picturesque farm is also a new Circle Farm Tour stop so you’re going to want to check it out!

End your day with a hearty meal and cocktail at Bavaria Restaurant! This local fave has been around since 1975 so you know it’s going to be good. You’ll be spoiled for choice for your dinner and make sure to leave room for dessert!

DAY TWO

It’s day two and you’re ready to start another day of fall adventures in Abbotsford! Little Sprout Cafe is an incredible social enterprise that is all about inclusion in their hiring practices and delicious, nutritious meals. Enjoy your yummy breakfast and then make your way to your next destination!

Prepare to spend a good amount of time at Taves Farms as there is no shortage of things to do once you’re there! Say hello to all the farm-animal friends at the petting barn, take a walk through the magical garden, play around in Farmville, go apple picking in the orchards and, of course, check out Cinderella’s carriage in the pumpkin patch! On weekends, you can even try your hand at the pumpkin and corn cannons, enjoy food from their concession and also go on a hayride around the farm.

Then it’s time to relax and head over to Taves Estate Cidery! Sip on a tasting flight of cider, cocktails and mocktails while visiting with their friendly goats on the family-friendly and pet-friendly patio.

It’s time for lunch and we’ve got just the place for you to try! Bow & Stern in Downtown Abbotsford is the perfect spot to enjoy ocean-inspired dining with quality ingredients in a unique, warm setting. If seafood isn’t your thing, don’t worry! Their extensive menu offers even more non-seafood options.

Halloween is creeping up (!!!) and it will be here before we know it! Abbotsford is a great place to be when it arrives as there are some great local events that you’ll want to bring your little goblins and ghouls to.
