Holiday meals have the power to evoke warm memories and make your gatherings sparkle and shine brighter than a Christmas tree! The sounds of happy laughter in the kitchen waft up in the air, along with the enticing smells of warm holiday spices and a turkey roasting in the oven. Whip up a holiday feast that will knock your guests’ Christmas socks off with a little help from the shops and farms on the Abbotsford Circle Farm Tour! With ingredients fresh from the fertile fields and farms of Abbotsford, you’ll be crafting flavourful fare that will satisfy even the pickiest eaters!

Long days of holiday travel, visiting, and parties require you to start your day with nourishing sustenance! Begin your day with a breakfast featuring Coligny Creek Egg Co. products. You can feel good about choosing their eggs, as Coligny Creek takes great pride in their dedication to ethical farming. Their free-roaming hens are fed a vegetarian diet with no animal by-products. And not only do they offer delicious farm eggs, their Breakfast Boxes are a great idea to satisfy even the most enormous appetites! Choose from their Coffee, Steak & Eggs box, which includes two dozen large eggs, 4 huge (approx. 12 ounce) New York Striploin Steaks, and a bag of Smoking Gun Coffee. Or, their Pancakes, Eggs & Coffee box includes 2 dozen large eggs, 1.3kg bag of Pancake Mix, 2L of 2% EcoDairy milk, and a bag of Smoking Gun Coffee.

Delight your holiday guests with a charcuterie board chock-full of cheesy goodness! Goat’s Pride Dairy is a small, family-operated farm that sells all manner of dairy deliciousness, including goat’s milk and yogurt, along with cheese crafted by son Jason through his cheese company, Mt. Lehman Cheese. You’ll find a wide variety of cheeses made from both goat and buffalo milk, but something they all have in common is stellar quality and flavour! For a soft, spreadable cheese, try their Chevre which comes in multiple flavours – Blackberry and Herb & Garlic are two of our favourites! Or try the Frisky – a camembert-style goat cheese that comes in unique and fun flavours (and shapes) like the Winter Herb Log, the Rose Petal Heart, and the Cocoa Cube. And that’s just scratching the surface; there are also fetas and cheddars and goudas, oh my! Taste one variety and you’ll want to try them all.

Sweet apple cider and the holiday season go hand in hand! Taves Family Farm is home to the Taves Estate Cidery, where their cider mill presses the farm’s own apples into the healthiest, tastiest apple juice around. Although their Applebarn Country Store is closed for the season, you can still get your hands on their delicious cider by shopping online for curbside pick-up. Choose from soft ciders (non-alcoholic) or their line of hard ciders (alcoholic) in various flavourful varieties. You can also order specialty (seasonal) ciders and farm foods (like apple butter & apple pie filling). Perfect for the holidays, their Spiced Cider is a blend of squeezed apples and mulling spices – try it hot or cold. Their hard cider varieties include Billy’s Best Apple Cider, Traditional Apple Blend Cider, and tasty blends like gooseberry, red currant, and black currant. Or order a variety pack to taste-test and find your favourite! You can also buy Taves Estate Cidery products at many outlets in the lower mainland. You’ll find a list here.

Campbell’s Gold is devoted to all things bees, with a focus on specialty honey and the production of honey wine. Their bees collect nectar from local flowering plants such as raspberries, blueberries, cranberries, pumpkins, lavender, clover and wildflowers, which results in nuanced variations in taste. Try their creamed and flavoured varieties, such as chocolate mint, chocolate orange, hazelnut, maple, peppermint, and pumpkin spice (and loads more). They also have liqueur varieties like Amaretto, Black Currant, Grand Marnier, Drambuie, and Spiced Rum (all fantastic holiday flavours). And we haven’t even mentioned their marvelous Mead and Honey Wines yet! Their premium range of honey wine includes Mead (sweet or dry), Pyment (grapes and honey), Melomel (fruit and honey), Cysor (apples and honey), and Metheglin (spices and zests added to any of the previous varieties). You’ll find all the mead and honey wine varieties here. It’s hard to pick a favourite as all the flavours are sheer perfection – subtle and not too sweet, with ambrosial flavours that will delight your tastebuds.
