Let’s Go Do Something…With Codi-Lynn!

June 24, 2021

Born and raised in Abbotsford, many will recognize Codi Lynn from her popular Instagram account and blog which covers all things motherhood, creativity, travel, and more. Codi Lynn champions Abbotsford as an amazing place to not only raise kids but to visit with your family when you need a break from city life. Teaching her kids about the land that surrounds them is important to her, “as parents we love raising our kids so that they can just get outside and go experience what Abbotsford has to offer.” Although this is Codi Lynn’s own backyard there are still some activities they hadn’t tried yet and our itinerary for their family incorporated some of Abbotsford’s most popular stops.

Starting the day with a boost of energy, the family headed to Oldhand Coffee in Historic Downtown Abbotsford. Oldhand prides itself in creating an elevated, heart-felt, and immersive experience of hospitality and community. Grab a specialty coffee and one of their amazing European style baked treats to start the day.

Next it was off to Maan Farms to do some strawberry picking. “We love going out and exploring in Abbotsford as we find there are a lot of different local places to go, coffee shops, different ice cream places, as well as local farms.” Maan Farms offers a variety of berry options, both to purchase or pick yourself, depending on the time of year. In addition to fresh strawberries you can find a barnyard adventure for kids, cute goats, Mama Maan’s kitchen, wine tasting, and much more.

For an educational farm experience Codi Lynn and her family headed to EcoDairy. Offering a unique, highly interactive learning environment, the EcoDairy experience has been developed in partnership with Science World. You can take a barn tour, meet the cows, watch a robotic milker in action and try your hand at milking their mascot cow, Vicki. Explore the farm animal exhibit, educational displays, and picnic grounds with a stunning view of Mt. Baker. EcoDairy is a great way for kids to learn about agriculture and animals, which is important to Codi Lynn and her family: “When you’re living in the busy city I think you forget about how important it is for your kids to really immerse themselves into the farmland experience, to get to meet and touch and feel the animals.”

After getting a heavy dose of fresh air and adventure it was time to grab something to eat. Codi Lynn and her family love Field House Brewing Co. for its expansive patio and lawn space, kid friendly vibes, tasty farm to table eats, and of course, fresh brews. Try one of their famous pizzas, or a tasty grilled cheese, all made with local ingredients including some that Field House grows on their own farm! And don’t forget to grab some beer to take home for later on your way out.

The last stop was Taves Family Farms. In the fall you can find all of your seasonal favourites like pumpkin patches, apple picking, and sunflowers. In the summer months visitors are welcome to visit the Estate Cidery, feed goats, and enjoy a taste of life on the farm. “The next time you’re looking for something to do with your family, Abbotsford is the perfect place to spend the weekend.”
