Recognized with the designation of a National Historic Site of Canada, the Gur Sikh Gurdwara (temple) is a place of worship in Abbotsford. This 100+ year old building which also hosts the Sikh Heritage Museum, was built by migrants and is the last standing Sikh temple that was built at that time. This significant piece of Indian history is a must-visit for Cultural Explorers due to the weight that it holds in Abbotsford and Canada’s history.

Your first day is coming to an end and you’ve earned yourself a delicious meal for dinner! Restaurant 62 is an upscale farm-to-table dining destination known for its seasonal, locally sourced menu and innovative West Coast cuisine. DAY TWO

You’re ready to take on another day of exploring and of course you need the perfect breakfast spot and we’ve got the perfect suggestion. The Table Bistro is a cozy eatery offering a farm-to-fork dining experience with a focus on fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Its warm atmosphere and creative, wholesome dishes make it the favorite spot for those seeking comfort food with a gourmet twist. We love ‘The Table Eggs Benedict” so definitely try it out for yourself!

This next stop is walking distance from The Table Bistro! Mill Lake Park offers scenic walking trails that circle the tranquil lake, providing a peaceful setting for any outdoor enthusiasts. Surrounded by lush greenery, playgrounds, and picnic areas, it’s a popular spot for leisurely strolls, family outings, and connecting with nature.

Located right on the edge of Mill Lake Park, the Kariton Art Gallery is a great spot to warm up and enjoy some beautiful pieces after taking a stroll in the park.

The Abbotsford Arts Council supports and promotes local artists and cultural development in the community, offering a range of programs, events, and resources. One of its key initiatives is the Kariton Art Gallery, located in Mill Lake Park, which showcases rotating exhibitions of works by emerging and established Fraser Valley artists. Now a museum, it features period furnishings, artifacts, and exhibits that explore local history, industry, and culture. Surrounded by beautiful gardens and grounds, Trethewey House provides a unique educational experience and is a key part of the community’s heritage preservation efforts. You should also visit their new permanent exhibition “The River People and the Land: Living within S’ólh Téméxw” which details about how the Stó:lō people have been impacted by European colonization. The loss of land by way of the reservation system has negatively affected the Stó:lō. Within this exhibit, contemporary Stó:lō members are looking to move forward and reclaim what is rightfully theirs.
