5 Unique Abbotsford Date Ideas

February 9, 2023

Dates can be for everyone and it’s as simple as that! Whether you’re going on a date with a friend, yourself or someone you love, we think all dates are worth celebrating. It’s that time of year when the pressure comes to plan that perfect date but rest assured we have you covered! We’ve compiled a list of some fun date experiences for your next visit to Abbotsford.

For the Classic Date Night-ers

There’s a reason dinner and a movie is a classic date idea – it combines good food and a good flick! There are no shortage of great restaurants in Abbotsford to choose from and we think these two options could be just the fit for your classic date.

If you love planespotting and want a front-row seat to the airstrip at the Abbotsford International Airport then we recommend checking out Baron’s Bistro! Have your meal inside one of their patio domes and watch some planes take off!

If checking out a lush, golf green is more your style then we think you should visit Tavern on the Green at Ledgeview Golf Course! In addition to dining domes of their own, you’ll be spoiled for choice with their delicious menu.

The Cineplex movie theatre at Highstreet is the perfect spot to settle in a comfy chair after a great dinner and enjoy the latest film. Now all you have to do is choose what genre of film you can both agree on!

For the Masterminds

This date idea is for the ones who love testing their wits, practicing some basic physics and then enjoying some good beer and food after.

Start out with a visit to the EXIT Abbotsford escape room and see how fast you can escape any of their themed-escape rooms. This is especially a great idea for those on a first date because you’ll be able to learn pretty quickly how well the other person handles high pressure situations. It’s also a really fun way to break the ice!

Then it’s time to make your way over to Galaxy Bowl for some 10-pin bowling! Believe it or not, this activity can work up a bit of an appetite so you’re going to want to make plans to visit Loudmouth Brewing right after for any of their great flights of beer and delectable burgers made fresh!

For the Arts + Culture Lovers

If wandering around a gallery museum, eating incredibly yummy Thai cuisine or sipping on locally-crafted wine is more your speed then we think this is the date idea for you!

The Reach Gallery Museum regularly updates their exhibitions three times a year and a brand new season of exhibitions has just begun! The new exhibitions include “image/object: new approaches to three-dimensional photography” as part of the Capture Photography Festival, “2023 Fraser Valley Biennial” which features work from 22 local Fraser Valley artists and “Art on Demand 9.1” featuring work by Emily Goodbrand. For details on each exhibition, visit their Current Exhibitions page here.

Located in Downtown Abbotsford, Once Upon a Thai offers authentic Thai cuisine that will be sure to satisfy the biggest cravings.

Abbotsford’s newest winery, Cannon Estate Winery, is located in Mt Lehman among many of our other incredible wineries and you won’t be disappointed when you visit their beautiful property for a wine tasting.

For the Quality Time Seekers

This date idea is for the folks who enjoy spending quality time with their favourite people in a walkable location!

Boardwalk Cafe & Games is Abbotsford’s board game cafe and they offer over 6oo tabletop games that you and your date are sure to spend a good amount of time choosing to play. If you’re feeling like you might want to try a bit of dessert before your dinner, we recommend ordering a candy flight of sweets while you play your games!

Walk over to the nearby BRGR BRGR and try anything from their local farm-fresh menu!

Then head up Essendene Avenue and make a right on Pauline to visit Oldhand Coffee. Either order a delicious beverage and nibble on their freshly-baked goods.

For the Adventurers

Adventurers, this date idea is for you! Lace up those hiking boots, prepare the mountain bikes and be prepared to enjoy some locally-crafted beer.

Teq’qéyex (Sumas Mountain Regional Park) is a 1,471 hectare park with multiple trails to be explored both on foot and by mountain bike. The Chadsey Lake Trail is 4.6 km round trip, and the Eastern Valley Lookout Trail is 4.9 km round trip. Here you’ll enjoy spectacular views of Chilliwack and east Fraser Valley from the Lookout Trail, which can also be accessed from Chadsey Lake.

After you’ve finished exploring all that Teq’qéyex has to offer, make your way down the mountain to Raven’s Brewing! While their tasting room is currently closed, you can still visit their new location at 37455 Kilgard Road to pick up some of your favourite brews to go.
