We, as British Columbians, know better than anyone about the struggle of finding something fun to do on a rainy day. It’s always the debate between doing something relaxing or something to get some energy out of our systems. Here are some helpful suggestions on things to do on a rainy day when you visit Abbotsford.

 

1. Plan a Games Night with Friends at Boardwalk Cafe and Games

4. Try your hand at rock climbing at Project Climbing Centre

The folks at Project Climbing Centre have activities for available for beginners to climbing and for those who have been climbing for years! They even offer introductory courses to teach you the basics of the sport, as well as belay and lead climbing courses so you can rope up in the gym.

5. Visit some furry friends at EcoDairy

Book a tour at EcoDairy and enjoy an authentic farm experience including the sights, sounds, and smells of a farm! There’s plenty of opportunities to learn and also meet some of the resident farm animals on site.

 

6. Take in a play by Gallery7 Theatre

A fabulous way to spend a rainy evening is by taking in a play with Gallery7 Theatre! Their latest production “Trying” runs from January 28th-February 5th, 2022 and features “A timely and humorous drama set in the 1960’s, a young Canadian woman and an old Philadelphia aristocrat, two equally feisty individuals separated by age and generational difference, ‘try’ to understand each other in the midst of rapidly changing times.”

 

7. Pay a visit to the Sikh Heritage Museum to see their current exhibitions

The Sikh Heritage Museum at Gur Sikh Temple has an excellent exhibition on till March 2022, “Komagata Maru: Discrimination Meets Determination, [which] “offers a vibrant and visual exploration into historic events of 1914 but also how the conversations about racism needs to continue.” In addition, there is a permanent exterior installation of the exhibition that is also available for viewing seven days a week from 9:30am – 4:30pm.

8. Go on a tour at Trethewey House

Take a journey with Heritage Abbotsford back into the 1920s and explore Trethewey House. This guided tour features stories about Trethewey House, the families that lived in it, how people lived and made a living a century ago.
